Bladen County Starz wrapped up our very first showcase tournament this weekend, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Game 1 vs Carolina Cardinals Coastal 14U (L 3-1)

Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Carolina Cardinals Coastal 14U was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over Bladen County Starz 14u. Breelyn Peed started the game for Bladen County Starz 14u and recorded nine outs.

Carolina Cardinals Coastal 14U were the first to get on the board in the second when a wild pitch scored one run.

A double by Gia Odom extended the Carolina Cardinals Coastal 14U lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning.

Peed started in the circle for Bladen County Starz 14u. The righty gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out eight and walking none. Bladen County Starz 14u won big over Virginia Diamonds 10-2 on Saturday at Walnut Creek Athletic Complex.

Bladen County Starz 14u got on the board in the top of the first inning after Stevie Cressionie singled, scoring one run, Jayden Williford was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Wralstad induced Kenley Smeigh to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Wralstad induced Kimberlin Barnes to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.

Bladen County Starz 14u added two runs in the second after Jolene Baker singled to center field.

A triple by Williford, and a ground out by Smeigh helped Bladen County Starz 14u extend their early lead in the third.

Cressionie stepped in the circle first for Bladen County Starz 14u. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking one. Wralstad opened the game for Virginia Diamonds. The hurler gave up four hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out one and walking two. Breelyn Peed pitched one inning of shutout ball for Bladen County Starz 14u in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Bladen County Starz 14u couldn’t keep up with Lady Dukes Winston 14u and fell 9-0 on Saturday at Walnut Creek Athletic Complex.

Lady Dukes Winston 14u got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kalea Winston (2029) singled, scoring one run, and Sophia Owino (2029) hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs.

Lady Dukes Winston 14u added one run in the third. Caragan Cayton (2029) scored after tagging up, making the score 5-0.

Breelyn Peed opened the game for Bladen County Starz 14u. The pitcher gave up four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three. Avery Garrett (2029) stepped in the circle first for Lady Dukes Winston 14u. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.

Jayden Williford went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Bladen County Starz 14u in hits.

Lady Dukes Winston 14u piled up nine hits in the game. Owino (2029) provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Lady Dukes Winston 14u with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Garrett (2029) led Lady Dukes Winston 14u with two hits in two at bats. Camdyn Johnson (2028) stole two bases. Bladen County Starz 14u opened the scoring in the second after Alaina Peterson induced Jolene Baker to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Peterson stepped in the circle first for Carolina Cardinals- Peterson 14U. The left-handed pitcher surrendered 11 hits and four runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.

Bladen County Starz 14u accumulated 11 hits in the game. Peed, Kimberlin Barnes, Stevie Cressionie, and Jayden Williford each collected two hits for Bladen County Starz 14u. Kenley Smeigh, Serenity Schmieder, and Williford each drove in one run for Bladen County Starz 14u.
