Game 1 vs Riptide 14u – Elite (W 8-4)

Kenley Smeigh A Difficult Out As Bladen County Starz 14u Defeat Riptide 14u- Elite

Kenley Smeigh collected three hits in three at bats, as Bladen County Starz 14u defeated Riptide 14u- Elite 8-4 on Saturday at Middle Creek School/Park. Smeigh singled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Bladen County Starz 14u opened the scoring in the first after Smeigh singled, scoring one run.

Helen Wilson grounded out, which helped Riptide 14u- Elite tie the game at one in the top of the second.

Riptide 14u- Elite took the lead in the top of the third inning after Bladen County Starz 14u dropped a third strike, and Remi Slattery-Nguyen singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Bladen County Starz 14u flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Stevie Cressionie that drove in three.

Cressionie earned the win for Bladen County Starz 14u. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Slattery-Nguyen took the loss for Riptide 14u- Elite. The reliever went one-third of an inning, giving up five runs on two hits, striking out none and walking three. Etta Cherry began the game for Riptide 14u- Elite. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and three runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Breelyn Peed collected the save.

Bladen County Starz 14u tallied nine hits in the game. Peed paced Bladen County Starz 14u with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.

Jenna Mihalik, Slattery-Nguyen, and Meera Gupta each collected one hit for Riptide 14u- Elite. Wilson, Slattery-Nguyen, and Gupta each drove in one run for Riptide 14u- Elite. Riptide 14u- Elite were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Gupta had the most chances in the field with five.

Bladen County Starz 14u’s Late Push Leads To Victory Over Carolina Elite 2029 14U

Bladen County Starz 14u topped Carolina Elite 2029 14U 4-2 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. Bladen County Starz 14u were down 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning when Breelyn Peed doubled, scoring three runs.

Peed struck out 10 batters on the day. The pitcher also surrendered one hit and two runs over five innings while walking two.

Carolina Elite 2029 14U were the first to get on the board in the first when one run scored on another play.

Carolina Elite 2029 14U added one run in the third. Joelle Hodgin singled to center field on an 0-2 count, making the score 2-0.

Bladen County Starz 14u jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Abigail Dew singled, scoring one run, and Peed doubled, scoring three runs.

Olivia Lashley took the loss for Carolina Elite 2029 14U. The starter went five innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on 10 hits, striking out three and walking one.

Bladen County Starz 14u amassed 10 hits in the game. Dew, Peed, Haley Gantt, and Stevie Cressionie each collected two hits for Bladen County Starz 14u. Dew and Peed each drove in one run for Bladen County Starz 14u.

Hodgin led Carolina Elite 2029 14U with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day.

Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Bladen County Starz 14u defeated NC Blackhawks Premier 14U 3-2. Breelyn Peed started the game for Bladen County Starz 14u and recorded 10 outs.

A tag up by Peed put Bladen County Starz 14u on the board in the bottom of the first.

Bladen County Starz 14u added one run in the second. Abigail Dew tripled to center field, making the score 2-0.

Bladen County Starz 14u added one run in the third after Ariana Caceres singled to center field.
