Starz First High School Tournament Experience A Success

Our girls played in their first high school tournament yesterday. They had an excellent day tying their first game, winning the second and losing the third only allowing 6 runs while scoring 9 for the entire tournament. Going 1-1-1 and being seeded 3rd in the Gold bracket is exciting. So proud of each young lady and this organization. Bladen Starz softball continues to grow with exciting things to come. Way to play ladies!! Proud of the work you’re doing!

Bladen County Starz 14u And Lady Dukes Gold 16U Tie Despite Strong Performance From Breelyn Peed

Breelyn Peed struck out 10 batters, but Bladen County Starz 14u tied Lady Dukes Gold 16U 0-0 on Saturday. Peed gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings while walking three.

Kaidyn Richardson began the game for Lady Dukes Gold 16U. The righty allowed five hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Kimberlin Barnes and Haley Gantt each collected two hits for Bladen County Starz 14u. Bladen County Starz 14u didn’t commit a single error in the field. Serenity Schmieder had the most chances in the field with 10.

Bladen County Starz 14u will travel to Carolina Change-Ups Gold – Huneycutt 18U for their next game on Saturday.

Bladen County Starz 14u defeated Carolina Change-Ups Gold – Huneycutt 18U 9-3 on Saturday thanks in part to five runs in the second inning. Abigail Dicicco singled, scoring one run, Emilia Macias singled, scoring one run, and Breelyn Peed singled, scoring three runs.

Bladen County Starz 14u got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kimberlin Barnes singled, scoring one run, and Haley Gantt grounded out, scoring two runs.

Macias earned the win for Bladen County Starz 14u. The pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking none. M Nunn took the loss for Carolina Change-Ups Gold – Huneycutt 18U. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking two.

Peed provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Bladen County Starz 14u with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Dicicco, Peed, Macias, Serenity Schmieder, Barnes, Payton Eyl, and Ashtyn Westbrook each collected one hit for Bladen County Starz 14u. Bladen County Starz 14u were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Schmieder had the most chances in the field with three.

Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Lady Dukes Gold 16U was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-0 victory over Bladen County Starz 14u. Breelyn Peed started the game for Bladen County Starz 14u and recorded 12 outs.

Lady Dukes Gold 16U got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Faithlyn Lewis doubled to center field, and Sophie singled to center field, each scoring one run.
