Starz Take Championship in Clayton with Undefeated Record

One of the best tournaments we have ever played!Every player made a huge contribution to go 4-0 giving up 5 runs and scoring 28 for the day. But…What’s more important than the score or the wins, is how a team comes together as a family and never gives up. The best part of ball is watching a group of girls who had their backs to the wall and stepped up and didn’t quit. They encouraged and believed in each other today! The chemistry with these girls is one of a kind!

Bladen County Starz 14u Surge Past Lady Heels O’Neal 14U Thanks To Big First Inning

Bladen County Starz 14u defeated Lady Heels O’Neal 14U 14-1 on Saturday at Clayton Community Park thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning. Serenity Schmieder drew a walk, scoring one run, Emilia Macias was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kimberlin Barnes drew a walk, scoring one run, Haley Gantt was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Ashtyn Westbrook drew a walk, scoring one run, Abigail Dicicco drew a walk, scoring one run, Brissa Matheson singled, scoring two runs, and Sophia Vincent induced Schmieder to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Lady Heels O’Neal 14U were the first to get on the board in the first when a steal of home scored one run.

Bladen County Starz 14u scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Westbrook singled, scoring one run, Breelyn Peed doubled, scoring two runs, and Kenley Smeigh singled, scoring two runs.

Macias earned the win for Bladen County Starz 14u. The starter allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Westbrook collected the save.

Smeigh, Peed, Barnes, Gantt, Payton Eyl, Matheson, and Westbrook each collected one hit for Bladen County Starz 14u. Smeigh, Peed, Matheson, and Westbrook each drove in two runs for Bladen County Starz 14u. Bladen County Starz 14u had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but Bladen County Starz 14u defeated Adrenaline 14U 2-0. Ashtyn Westbrook started the game for Bladen County Starz 14u and recorded nine outs.

Bladen County Starz 14u opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. Bladen County Starz 14u first got on the board when Breelyn Peed singled, scoring one run.

Westbrook earned the win for Bladen County Starz 14u. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Leah Fields took the loss for Adrenaline 14U. The hurler went three innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking none. Peed collected the save.

Bladen County Starz 14u were victorious against Crossfire Fury 14U 6-4 on Saturday at Clayton Community Park.

A single by Abby Massengill put Crossfire Fury 14U on the board in the bottom of the first.

Bladen County Starz 14u captured the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fifth after Breelyn Peed singled to left field, Kenley Smeigh doubled to center field, and Bladen County Starz 14u scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

Crossfire Fury 14U scored on a wild pitch, which helped Crossfire Fury 14U tie the game at four in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, Bladen County Starz 14u broke up the tie when Kimberlin Barnes singled, scoring one run. Then a tag up by Barnes followed to extend the lead to 6-4.

Peed earned the win for Bladen County Starz 14u. The righty surrendered one hit and one run over two and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Carson Price took the loss for Crossfire Fury 14U. The reliever went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. Emilia Macias stepped in the circle first for Bladen County Starz 14u. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Haley Ramey started the game for Crossfire Fury 14U. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and one run (zero earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two.
